The Science Behind
Electrostatic Painting

Traditional spray painting sends paint in all directions — most of it misses the surface and becomes overspray. Electrostatic painting charges the paint particles negatively and the metal surface positively. The paint is magnetically attracted to the metal.

The result is near-total paint transfer efficiency, an incredibly even coating that wraps around edges, and virtually zero overspray — which means we can do it on your property without masking everything nearby.

Step 01

Surface Prep

Wire brush to remove rust and loose paint. Solvent cleaning removes all grease and oils. This is critical — electrostatic paint adhesion is only as good as the prep.

Step 02

Electrostatic Charge

The spray gun charges paint droplets with high voltage (-30,000 to -90,000 V). The metal surface is grounded. Opposite charges attract — paint is pulled to the metal.

Step 03

Application

Paint is applied in slow, even passes. Because of the magnetic attraction, paint wraps around corners, edges, and curves — achieving full coverage impossible with brush.

Step 04

Cure and Seal

Final enamel coat cures to a hard, durable finish. For exterior metal in Arizona, we apply a clear rust-inhibiting topcoat to maximize lifespan.
